Text translation

Full instructions and common questions

Text translation

Translate text with DeepL, detect the source language and swap completed translations to translate in reverse. Text is sent through the server to DeepL.

How to use

  1. Enter text and select a source language or automatic detection, then choose a target.
  2. Translation starts after a short pause. Adjust tone or add context; leaving the context field triggers a new translation.
  3. Review and copy the result, or swap languages to use the translation as the new source.

Try an example

Enter “你好,世界” with English as the target. After translation, swap languages to translate the English result into Chinese. Reverse translation need not reproduce the exact original.

Limits and privacy

Up to 30,000 characters. Service permissions, quota and connectivity affect availability. Review important translations manually; formality support varies by language.

Common questions

Why is swapping disabled?

The source language must be known and the current text must finish translating, so outdated output is not reused.

Does this work offline?

No. Text translation requires an internet connection and the server calls DeepL. The API key is not included in frontend code.
