Image Compression

Full instructions and common questions

Image Compression

Compress by quality or a size limit, compare original and output, then download or save to the results library. Processing stays in your browser.

How to use

  1. Choose or drop one PNG, JPEG or WebP image, or try the sample.
  2. Choose quality mode or enter a KB limit. Target mode supports WebP and JPEG with optional proportional resizing.
  3. Process and preview, check actual bytes, dimensions and clarity, then download or save.

Try an example

Set a 200 KB limit and check whether the output meets it. Disable smaller dimensions to preserve pixels. Unmet targets are explicitly reported.

Limits and privacy

Up to 30 MB, 40 million pixels, and 16000 pixels on the longest edge. Target mode uses lossy encoding and may resize when allowed. Very small targets may not be reached. JPEG fills transparency with white.

Common questions

Why is output larger?

The original may already be compressed or the format may not suit the image. Try lower quality, WebP or smaller dimensions.

Does this change dimensions?

Quality mode preserves dimensions. Target mode resizes proportionally only when allowed; the results show the actual dimensions.
