Shopify Product Import

Full instructions and common questions

Shopify Product Import

Convert a product table into Shopify draft-product CSV. Review handles, SKUs, variant combinations and store currency, preview titles, image links and SEO fields, then inspect the file in Shopify’s import preview.

How to use

  1. Import CSV, TSV, JSON or XLSX and choose a worksheet, using one SKU or variant per row. Start with the sample if needed.
  2. Confirm handle, SKU, title, price and option mappings. Product details must agree within a handle, and variant combinations must be unique.
  3. Enter the three-letter uppercase store currency, resolve validation issues and confirm that you will review variants and overwrite options in Shopify’s import preview.
  4. Review the output and download CSV or save it. Check products, variants and overwrite options in Shopify’s official import preview before importing.

Try an example

The travel-mug sample has Blue and Red Color variants with distinct SKUs. Both rows share a handle and export with Status=draft and Published on online store=false.

Limits and privacy

Up to 10 MB per file and 10,000 rows per table. Exports draft products without publishing, inventory export or store-account access. Rearrange image-only rows into SKU rows first; use cross-platform mapping for custom fields. Prices are not converted between currencies.

Common questions

Does changing store currency convert prices?

No. The tool checks source currency against your setting and does not calculate exchange rates. Confirm prices already use the store currency.

Why do variants share a handle?

A handle groups the product. Each variant needs a distinct SKU, consistent product details and option names, and a unique option combination.
