Quick answer
Define input rules, expected results and error handling before generation. Independently check ordinary values, zero, blank input and invalid characters, then rerun those cases after changes. Review the current Share panel and recipient access rather than automatically applying an older Publish tutorial.
Check the current artifact type and entry point
Claude’s Artifacts help describes creating and editing standalone work. Current artifacts require Cloud code execution and file creation. It distinguishes legacy chat artifacts created before September 16, 2026, so an older tutorial may show different controls.
Use your actual interface, organizational settings and authority. Do not casually change organization permissions for a practice task. Choose a minimal example without personal records, external connections or persistent storage. Templates, networking and storage are outside this exercise.
Turn an idea into checkable requirements
A request to make a converter leaves unanswered questions: are negatives allowed, does blank mean zero, how is precision displayed, and is anything saved? Define the scope before generating an interface.
This exercise converts meters to centimeters by multiplying by 100. Allow nonnegative decimals; explain blank, negative and nonnumeric input instead of showing a successful result. Include units, a clear button and text labels. Do not load outside material or save input.
If comparing models too, consult the task and failure conditions for model evaluation. Model choice does not replace this tool’s specification, and improved presentation does not establish correct arithmetic.
Example prompt: explain boundaries before generating
Ask for a meter-to-centimeter tool accepting only nonnegative decimal numbers, multiplying by 100 and labeling the output in centimeters. Require explanations for blank, negative and nonnumeric input, a clear action, keyboard access and a readable phone layout. Exclude app connections, AI service calls and saved data. Ask it to explain the implementation and limits before generating, then list cases for you to check.
These are requirements to verify, not a guarantee the model will follow them. If it adds networking, sign-in or storage, ask why and return to the minimum scope. Do not submit secrets, customer records or code you are not authorized to use.
Calculate expectations independently
- Ordinary input: 1 meter should produce 100 centimeters and 1.25 should produce 125. Calculate these first; the same generation should not be its own sole judge.
- Boundary behavior: 0 should produce 0. Clearing must not retain the previous result. Inspect rounding explanations for long decimals; displayed precision is not unlimited precision.
- Invalid input: blank, -1 and abc should be rejected or explained. Do not silently accept blank as zero or parse an arbitrary fragment into a valid value.
- Interaction: navigate input and buttons with a keyboard. Narrow the window and check labels, error messages and results. One successful click does not cover every path.
- After edits: retain a problem list, request targeted changes and rerun the original cases. Presentation changes can affect input behavior.
Understand what a few passing examples establish
A few examples verify those inputs and paths, not every value, browser or device. Retain requirements and correction records, and identify who handles errors if the tool needs ongoing maintenance. Higher-reliability uses need a competent implementation review.
This exercise is not a new KitNelo converter or certified engineering software. Complex units, precision and real business rules need independent verification. AI generation, cloud execution and local processing are different concepts; do not describe an Artifact as fully offline.
Common questions
Can I try this without coding experience?
Start with minimal rules and hand-calculated expectations. Limited implementation knowledge makes complex defects harder to identify. Use invented data and low-impact tasks, and obtain competent review for more complex uses.
Does a working interface establish correct calculation?
No. Check rules, expected values, invalid input and interaction separately. Keep independent results and repeat checks after changes.
Why can someone else not open my link?
Recipient accounts, access scope, organizational settings or artifact type may be involved. Check current sharing help and the actual panel rather than assuming new artifacts behave like legacy public ones.
